We live in a world with limited resources which are being depleted at an accelerated pace. The world population is growing rapidly as well as its demand for its products and services.
Because of this, our environment has suffered serious damage as the increasing global warming, whose effects will be maximized for future generations if we do nothing to prevent this.
Cans and sustainability
The essence of sustainability is to maximize resources and minimize exploitation. Cans play an important role by reducing waste and deterioration of packaged products.

In the case of food, cans and tinplate packaging materials also help to save energy by preserving food without need of refrigeration or freezing, which minimizes the use of electricity.

4'Rs
Reducing
Reducing is the most important of the Rs. Reduced consumption is also known as "prevention of consumption" and means using less material. Preventing consumption also means having less waste about which worry later.
Reuse
If you can reuse something, this is not considered a waste! Participating in donations and sale of old clothes and other items that people do not want more, helps keeping them away from the trash, and can also help to save money.
Recycle
Sometimes things can not be reused. Recycling raw materials allows to maintain a system that prevents excessive dependence on the exploitation of virgin minerals, oil, trees, etc. If we are to reduce the amount of materials going to landfill, we will also reduce the need for mining, logging and other activities that threaten natural resources.
Recuperate
Retrieve refers to closing the recycling pyramid, otherwise, what good is in recycling if no one buys recycled products? Buying recycled products creates greater demand for them. More demand means more manufacturers trying to sell more of such products. You may also want to consider just buying products that can be recycled.
